All of our experienced optometrists are well-versed in all myopia control methods, including specialty glasses lenses, multifocal soft contact lenses, atropine and orthokeratology. We can guide you through managing and preventing myopia, helping you achieve optimal vision and good eye health.

Myopia Control Options

There are many myopia control options which help prevent the eyes from getting worse. These include specialty glasses lenses, multifocal soft contact lenses, atropine and orthokeratology. Specialty glasses look just like normal glasses but have a special technology in them that help prevent myopia progression. We offer both Hoya Miyosmart and Essilor Stellest lenses at our locations which are the leading spectacle lens brands for myopia control. If your child is very active and would like the convenience of not wearing glasses we can also prescribe soft multifocal contact lenses or OrthoK too. Orthokeratology or OrthoK is a hard contact lens that is worn while sleeping and is one of the best options for myopia control – read more in our Orthokeratology section.

Good Habits To Adopt

On top of wearing some form of myopia control, it is also very important to maintain good visual hygiene for the best results and minimal progression. This includes:

  • Spending at least 90 minutes outdoors in sunlight every day
  • 20/20/20 rule: take regular rest breaks from near work (screens and books) – every 20 minutes, 20 feet away for 20 seconds
  • Have a good working distance – don’t hold things too close when reading
  • Try to limit screen time to 2 hours everyday

Feel free to give us an email, call or book in for an initial bulk billed consultation if you have any questions or want to know what would be suitable for you! All of our locations have experienced optometrists that can do comprehensive eye tests for myopia and recommend the best treatment plan for your needs.
